Guard against headaches

The most common forms of headaches include: Migraines: Usually stronger, one sided, pulsating headaches which worsen with activity. They can be associated with nausea and sensitivity to light and/or noise. Tension headaches involve a pressing or tightening feeling around the head often associated with stress, tension or anxiety. Cluster headaches occur in bouts or clusters lasting no more than two hours. Usually the pain is piercing or burning on one side of the head. Sinus headaches are caused by sinus pressure that can cause pain around the sinus areas. They are often associated with colds involving nasal congestion.

  • To guard against headaches:
  • Avoid common headache triggers such as alcohol, strong smells or fumes and missed meals.
  • Rearrange activities where possible so that stress is removed or reduced
  • Use a simple pain reliever from your Guardian Pharmacist such as aspirin* paracetamol* or ibuprofen* at the first sign of a headache.

See your doctor if your headache lasts for more than 24 hrs, starts after exertion or if you get drowsy or confused.
